Johnny English Reborn - Movie Review

CastRowan Atkinson, Rosamund Pike, Dominic West
DirectorOliver Parker
Screenplay

In this movie, Rowan Atkinson returns to his role of the accidental secret agent Johnny English, a man who doesn't know fear or danger. In his latest adventure, the most unlikely intelligence officer in Her Majesty's Secret Service must stop a group of international assassins before they eliminate a world leader and cause global chaos. It has been a few years since MI-7's top spy vanished off the grid, and unknown to others he has secretly been honing his unique skills in a remote region of Asia. When his agency superiors learn of an attempt against the Chinese premier's life, they must turn to this highly unorthodox agent.
With the world needing him once again, Johnny English is back in action. He has one shot at redemption, and employing the latest hi-tech gadgets, he has to unravel a web of conspiracy that runs throughout the KGB, CIA and even MI-7. With mere days until a heads of state conference, our man must use every trick in his playbook to protect the world from disaster. However, as we all know, for Johnny English, disaster may be an option, but failure never is.
Rowan Atkinson as Johnny English has exceeded himself, and given a rib-splitting performance. Rosamund Pike as Kate, provides the oomph quotient, and has given a very impressive performance. Dominic West, Gillian Anderson, Tim McInnerny and others make the rest of the cast. The action sequences have been wonderfully choreographed, and the natural scenery has been superbly captured on film. Lily Atkinson, Rowan's daughter makes a fleeting appearance in the movie. There were also rumours that Pierce Brosnan was having a role in the movie.
There are a few slip-ups here and there, but as an overall package, the movie does much to impress, and leaves the viewer with a smile on their face!
William Davies, Hamish McColl
