Abduction is an out and out action movie, which has Taylor Lautner and Lily Collins in lead roles! Lautner is Nathan, a shy but short-tempered guy, and he is paired up with girl next door Karen (Lily Collins) for a school research assignment. Nathan is shocked to find one of his childhood photos on a missing persons website, prompting him to question everything he was brought up to believe in.
Very soon, Nathan's parents are killed, and he and Karen find themselves on the run, in their search for the truth. Unable to trust anybody, and being chased by a lot of unknown people, Nathan and Karen have to unravel a lot of mysteries, and ensure that they don't end up on the ever-growing list of dead people. Time is running out for Nathan, and he needs to get to the bottom of the secret behind his past. Will he be able to do it? Will he be able to handle the truth? These questions set the tempo for the movie.
Lautner holds his own, amidst the total chaos surrounding him. He shines very well in the action sequences, though his overall emoting needs a major boost. The rest of the cast don't have very significant screen space, except for Lily Collins, who impresses with her performance. Sigourney Weaver makes her presence felt. The script sags quite a bit, and has been the major let down in the movie. However, the action sequences and the unpredictable climax do more than enough to redeem the movie. Director John Singleton also pays homage to the popular game Assassins Creed, in a scene in this movie.
The movie is sure to be a draw to all action lovers, and most of all to die-hard Lautner fans, who get to see a lot more of him in this movie than in the Twilight Franchise.
